Fusic to Your Ears

Whether its Sprints LG Fusic (fun + music) to your ears or music sweet music from Verizons new LG Chocolate phone, it certainly beats the LG900017CXv. Someone is finally starting to use actual brand names that had encouraged some level of original thought, can you believe it? With so many homogeneous wireless carriers and phone manufacturers, each copying the other from advertisements to service offerings in hopes of increasing market share, seems that Korea based LG is trying to make a statement, pose a question or exclaim that someone in the U.S. wireless industry has got to break the mold. In LGs newest addition to both the Verizon (Chocolate) and Sprint CDMA (Fusic) Family, it seems that LG is being a thought leader and not a thought follower. And they will probably keep exclusive rights to their music branded phones for a while since both Sprint and Verizon use CDMA technology. Over recent years I was beginning to wonder if the CDMA carriers would be the first to exclusively launch something cool that was highly anticipated. My oh my, the times are a changing. What will be next? Maybe a bill in an easy to read format with the correct monthly charges, I suppose we can keep dreaming.

LG decided to go beyond the concept of making consumers wait for the release of a new cell phone with a bunch of hype that once launched had all the cool beta testing features removed and ultimately enhanced a single feature or offered a bunch of enhancements to existing features. After all how truly different is a camera with 3.6 megapixels verses one with 3.625 megapixels? But my camera phone has a flash, so hah take that. Instead, LG decided to take the wildly popular music player concept and mix it with a feature rich, intuitively and smart-designed clamshell phone. Mind you it has only been over the past two or three years that the IPOD has grown mass market appeal and become truly iconic but real music connoisseurs know that its evolution dates back to October 2001.

Nevertheless all of the coolest products and concepts in Asia and Europe take about 3-5 years to arrive here in the states (albeit in their stripped down or prohibited format) so as far as I am concerned, LGs music phone launch is right on time! A wireless company who truly understands the Sign of the Times.
